What are standard Safety Rules for Crane Operators?

Cranes are huge machines which carry a lot of weight. They are very useful but in the wrong hands or circumstances they can also be very dangerous. This is why safety is a very important aspect of the job of a crane operator. They have to be very careful in order to make sure that no one gets injured.
The most important safety rule is that only trained and authorized people should operate the crane.

The person operating the lift also has to stay in communication with the person giving the instructions and make sure they only listen to the signals given by authorized personnel. Another important part is to ensure that warning signals need to be given whenever the crane makes a movement to make sure the target and travel area is clear.

Another important rule is to check the equipment, specially the chains and ropes, properly before operating the crane. If any problems are discovered while operating it then work needs to be immediately stopped and the concerned authorities need to be alerted. The load also needs to be properly secured in order to ensure that it does not fall during hauling. The weather conditions also need to be checked and if it has rained recently all the brakes need to be checked to make sure they are working and that moisture has not caused any problems.  There are also other measures which you need to check with the authorities to ensure that you are working safely.
